Re: “Citizen oversight needed in Avon”

If adequate safeguards are in place but you’re too busy to bother with them, it’s not the fault of the amendment. Moreover, if average citizens with a job and family can’t effectively monitor town activities, they shouldn’t cast a vote. We elect responsible people to serve on town council to make decisions in the citizens’ best interst. And we have capable staff to carry out their direction. Let’s get out of the way and let them do their jobs.

Vote yes on May 6.

“Let’s get out of the way and let them do their jobs.” I’m sorry Ms. Green, but democracy is not based on voters getting out of the way of a ruling elite. You are recommending run-a-way government, which is exactly what gets us into trouble. I suppose that you would have suggested that our colonists should have stayed out of the way so that the British empire could do their jobs, also.

You must also not believe in following the will of the people. Lyn Morgan is right. Vote no to retain your right to control government.

Re: “Avon’s Nottingham Rd. best for fire station”

It is totally wrong to take land and give it to a developer like Town of Vail did. Period. That should never happen. But I also understand that there are times it is necessary to make needed expansions to that infrastructure. Avon is a horribly planned town, and fixing it is going to impact people. I agree that it is good it is not this owner’s house. If he is truly fairly compensated for his vacant land, then it seems like another Avon citizen “paying for the sins of his fathers”, but I am not outraged by it.
