Wisdom: Don’t cut Eagle Co. sheriff’s budget

Re: “Eagle County, sheriff at odds over overtime”

It is a tragedy in the making when the commissioners decide that $4.5 million dollars of our money is better spent on bailing out a failing developer at Stratton Flats than spending $160,000 to support a safer community. I would bet that the commissioners would change their minds if it was their families that were the victims of crime. …

Know what county commissioners? Do not “trim” law enforcement. (We need and want them!) Start with your own budgets, shed the stupid “get Arn on TV” green cars, trim free daycare … funding, give the sheriff the money you spent on the airport name change, and give back stolen taxpayer money, the money you threesome stole through property tax increases. Then leave our cops alone.

Pay them! Again, we taxpayers like them! We are just not impressed with any of you.

… when I made the same argument a couple of weeks ago, I was flogged on this board. Glad to see there are at least two of us who are not willing to go with the blank check approach to funding the sheriff’s department!

Law enforcement overspends in Eagle County. They always have and will continue to try. Cameras, laptops, special cars, shooting range, so much training, armored vehicles, and the list goes on. Arn is a jerk and should have been removed from office long ago, but the Sheriff’s office should be put on a budget and required to work within it.

Since when did Arn start caring about getting the budget in shape?

Law enforcement isn’t sexy, but subsidizing whiners’ desire to live in this area is. Guess who gets the money?
