On the Vail Daily Web site, you can comment on each story or editorial you read there. Here, we publish excerpts of those comments:Re: Wisdom from the WebIt’s great that the Home Rule Charter Committee is not representative of the people who elected them and that they have chosen to impose their own beliefs and do away with party affiliation. It will kill the vote on home rule.Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumAs John’s grandfather, I would like to thank A. Berkstresser for the comments about John. Thank you so very much. John’s family will miss his smile forever. Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumI’m his uncle in Carmichael, Calif., Michael Rodacker. What a shame. He was so young.Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumHe will be missed by all who knew and loved him.Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumJohn Rodacker was a great kid. What a waste of a great young man. I am his cousin and he is already missed by all who loved and knew him. God bless him and may his soul rest in heaven.I love you John, SeanRe: No parking cramps river accessA big “thanks” to East/West for their thoughtful approach to closing the Avon river access. It just goes to show you that they are not at all connected to this community. How could they say they had “no idea” how heavily used that access point was? That truly reflects either their ignorance, disconnect or disrespect. These are the people we are allowing to shape our community?Re: No parking cramps river accessWhen will developers learn to involve all community stakeholders in a collaborative effort with these types of projects rather than the current “grease the skids and shove it down their throats” tactics that reflect their attitude towards the communities they impact? Had they bothered to include those who use the river in their planning for closing and redeveloping river access, they not only would get valuable input on building a better access point, but perhaps reasonable alternatives could have been developed and information disseminated throughout the community of river enthusiasts in a timely manner. Developers need to learn to collaborate with the public.Re: Letters to the editorRoger Brown has an identity crisis going on. His latest idea about taxing wealthy second-home owners at twice the rate leads me to believe that he now thinks he is either Robin Hood or Karl Marx. Second-home owners already fuel our economy and have less financial impact on the county because their kids don’t go to school here, etc. Roger wants to kill the geese who leave all of their golden eggs behind. Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumMy heart goes out to Kimmy and her family. I can’t even imagine the pain in each of your hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We love you, Cousin Jodi and familyRe: Government Tracker – Eagle County School Board How convenient for the school district to blame the dismal scores on the Spanish-speaking students instead of blaming themselves for using poorly designed and implemented curricula. Let’s see the percentage of Hispanic third-graders who have been with the school district since kindergarten and first grade and look at how well they did. Those results will quiet people like me if they are good. …Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumI am John’s cousin, Trent Terra, Sean’s son. He was a great cousin. He taught me to ride my skateboard down my driveway when I was 7. I am 9 years old now. It broke my heart when I heard that he died. You will always be in my prayers. I love you John,Cousin Trent from Sacramento, Calif. Re: Fatal wreck closes Hwy. 6 in GypsumJohn was a promising and talented young man. May God look after his soul in heaven. And comfort his family and friends during this time of sorrow. Uncle Dave and Aunt Kalee Rodacker of western WashingtonRe: Government Tracker – Eagle County School Board Ask for a bond if and ONLY if every single child enrolled is verified as a lawful U.S. resident (no U.S. immigration law against doing that). And if yes on legal status, confirm each child has ONE parent who is a U.S. citizen. Otherwise, FORGET it. Go ask Mexico for the money.Re: Friend extol victim’s virtuesJohn was my cousin. I only met him a few years ago on a family camping trip where he and my oldest daughter hit it off. She also graduated last year from high school. She at times would talk with him and say one day she was going to go to Colorado and see her cousin again. I’m sorry for the loss his parents are feeling and only wish I could have known him better. My family’s prayers and condolences are with the Rodacker family.Shiella Marie Rivera (Barrows)Re: Z Blog – A new national anthemAmericans with any sense of pride in country like our traditional one, thanks Leave it ALONE! Re: Z Blog – A new national anthemAs far as being a Republican song, the Republican Party wasn’t even formed yet. I just have one question for you. What have you ever done for your country besides flip it the finger?Vail, Colorado
