On the Vail Daily Web site, readers can comment on each story or editorial they read there. Here are excerpts of those comments:Re: TipslineHey DOG OWNERS! We are getting a bad rap! Let’s change that! Everyone is complaining about the dog “doo” that is left around on trails. We’ve all been in a situation where we haven’t seen our dog “go” or have been caught without a bag. Maybe we can all make a concerted effort. We could do poop patrol. There are plenty of bags for us to use. We can grab two or three, put one on a hand as a picker upper, one as the container. Pick up what we see. I’m not suggesting we go bush whacking, just grab what is visible. Dog ownership is a responsibility and just like having children, we need to clean up after. Let’s see what we can to do change our bad reputation!Re: Pain at the pumpI want to know why the residents of Vail haven’t addressed the price of gas in Vail compared to the price in Silverthorne or Denver. It’s ridiculous that we get taken advantage of just because there are wealthy second home owners here. Shame on the local gas stations and I hope they all go out of business.Re: Racers huff and puff up Beaver Creek HillGo Zirb Tree, go! I’m still cheering for you! My mom says hi and she’s very proud of you! SaraRe: Tipsline/global warmingThere is a real problem with all of the so called scientific theories and research on global warming. First and foremost is the fact that these people are paid professionals, paid by government grants, colleges, research funds from private foundations, etc. They make a living from doing said research. If one of them was to conclude that there really was not global warming, and that it was really just a cycle in the history of the Earth’s temperature and constantly changing ecosystem, then the grant money would dry up and they would be out of a job. As long as they claim there is global warming, they get to keep their little jobs and are awarded more money. Get it?Re: Letter to editorIn addition to applying reason to his own arguments, M.G. Gallagher could use a healthy dose of FACTS. Imbicilic arguments that the war in Iraq is about money for “big oil” have long been disembowled. These people hate George Bush so much that they will say and do anything to further their own corrupt agenda. The Katrina crisis is a perfect example of simple-minded Bush-haters doing their best to shift the blame for incompetent emergency services off of the governor of Lousiana and the mayor of New Orleans and onto the president. Are these people really that dumb, or do they just assume everyone else is?Vail, Colorado
