On the Vail Daily Web site, you can comment on each story or editorial you read there. Here, we publish excerpts of those comments:Re: ‘One of the little people in town’Diana Donovan is a great choice for Citizen of the Year. She has consistently worked for Vail over many years. She’s been true to her convictions about Vail and has not given in to special interests. Her voice has often been singular in representing the other “little people” in Vail. Thank you, Diana.Re: Why we’re leaving U.S.Ross, I wish more liberals would do what you did and leave. The U.S. would have much fewer problems. At least you put your money where your mouth is unlike other liberals that said they would leave after the last election such as Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand, etc.Re: Why we’re leaving U.S.Thanks for the kind words. As expected, I’m getting much bashing as a “liberal,” but few thoughtful responses addressing any of my points. It’s easy to name call and apply labels, but difficult to face the truth about how low the U.S. has sunk in so many areas. Meanwhile, in our first week here, we’ve been treated like family by the world’s most friendly, easy-going people. Life is good. Ross PalmerRe: Why we’re leaving U.S.Instead of bashing him as a “liberal,” why don’t you put some thought into your response and address the points he makes? Are any of them wrong? Name calling and labeling don’t accomplish much. At least he articulated his issues and didn’t just say he’s leaving because of all the rightwing kooks. Address his points. Not so easy, is it?Re: Why we’re leaving U.S.Read the piece again. They’re not his problems, they’re the U.S.’s problems. And you didn’t address a single one. He never claimed New Zealand was utopia, but even you admit it’s a wonderful place, so why knock it? As for the significant strife with the indigenous population, that’s simply not true. Were you thinking of Australia?Re: Is your Christmas tree live or artificial?Cool to see that it is still ‘cool’ and PC for the Vail Daily to brave the opposition of the very few and call it a “Christmas” tree instead of a “holiday” tree.Re: The most outrageous event in history!I’m sorry, but every single thing about Jesus is very, very disbutable. In fact, you have no proof whatsoever that a birth even occurred, much less that a child was born with a god as the father. For instance, were you aware that the earliest known scrolls that discussed the birth stated that “a young girl” had a child, and it was a few centuries later when the Greek translation changed it to a “virgin?” Please, enjoy your beliefs, but don’t be totally blind to research.
