Wisdom from the Web

Compiled by Daily staff

On the Vail Daily Web site, readers can comment on each story or editorial they read there. Here we publish excerpts of those comments:Re: Businesses vs. conservativesIt has been found that the majority of Hispanics that come from other countries and Mexico were already employed before they left, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. This speaks volumes that their reason for leaving is not so much for a better life, but coming for more money and benefits of living here. So instead of facing the hardship involved in developing their own country to be a better place to live, they come here instead. Those so-called immigrants, after obtaining work in farming, skip out after a time and head to the cities, where they are guaranteed to be hired by a company that won’t check their ID, and work for far less than their American counterparts, increasing demands on the local school system and hospitals. In fact, the price of vegetables has been going up lately instead of down, probably because farmers can’t keep track of their ( illegal ) work force. In fact, no comprehensive immigration polices regarding immigration enforcement have been passed in 20 years, and yet we hear the whining and complaining by the liberals that this is a bad idea, and believe more money is needed to support this flood of illegal humanity. Wow, businesses and liberals working side by side. What a concept. This concept takes a dark turn in the case of New Orleans, where subcontractors in their infinite wisdom hired illegal labor instead of the citizens of Louisiana who lost everything. In fact, today 40,000 citizens are still living in hotel rooms since Katrina hit. I wonder if these laborers ever thought about what happened to those people who lost their homes and loved ones. Mass illegal immigration, or for the political correct mass immigration, is just as threatening to American society and its future as any terrorist act. To many so-called immigrants these days, it’s not what I can do for America, but what America can do for me. Re: Wisdom from the WebSo Harry Frampton does it to us again. He hoodwinked the majority of Eagle County into believing the used on gravel pit should be preserved for open space, and not be used for commercial building, actually getting tax dollars to a large portion of his plan. Then he buys more real estate and jacks the price through the roof. The Mountain Center building in Avon is now charging $20 a square foot for space. That is about three times what it would cost anywhere else, like Denver, Seattle, San Fran, etc. You could get prime downtown office space for that much. …Re: Wisdom from the WebWhy are there traffic signals on the outside of the Vail parking structure telling a person which of the two middle entrance/exit is in or out, but on the inside there are no traffic signs? Is this just some lame way for the cops to make a quick buck? I almost got into a head-on collision again today. What is it going to take, someone getting killed for the town of Vail to do something? Re: Rudi Fisher ‘saw natural beauty everywhere’He was a great man, a great, great man. My thoughts are with his family.Re: Arizona woman accused of being lookoutIs there anyone awake at the Daily?
