On the Vail Daily Web site, readers can comment on each story or editorial they read there. Here we publish excerpts of those comments:Re: Transit strike strands New York commuters; judge imposes $1 million-a-day fineThis is Michael Cacioppo. Can’t liberal judges ever follow the U.S. Constitution? Why do the words always have to mean what the judges want, instead of what the words say? New Yorkers do not have to work if they don’t want to. The fine is unconstitutional. The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” Last time I checked, New York is in the U.S. The transit workers can be fired for striking, but the fine is illegal. They do not have to work. We all should demand that the constitution be upheld!Re: Climate change may disrupt more than weatherHi, well, the average moves to a warming and there is variability around that average temperature. So there can still be highs and lows in temperature. Do not be fooled by one day or one winter’s warming. Wait till you don’t have much snow. Mickey GlantzRe: Wife of Houston minister delays flight to VailThe pastor and his wife are very nice people. Do not judge something unless you see it with your own eyes. I work in the airline industry. Customers and Employees can have short tempers during the stressful holidays. Let’s give both sides the benefit of the doubt shall we.P.S.: Everyone deserves First Class treatment once in awhile.Re: Defendant in arson attacks asks for mercyShouldn’t these terrorists be sent to Guantanamo? They are enemies of the state. There they would have the time away from their self-hated lifestyle of the Amerikana man. I am sure in no time they would be singing the names of the others involved in the fires, plus we would find out which locals were helping them. Re: Center of criticism”Rogers responded with an attack when an apology was called for.”So is one coming now?Re: Wife of Houston minister delays flight to VailJoel does not get a salary as pastor. Victoria is also a pastor and she does not get paid, either. They live comfortably off of his book revenues. And I am sure they can afford first class, but they have enough airline miles to fly that way anytime they want to. Joel is a high demand speaker and travels constantly. He is a decent guy. I don’t know her. Maybe she had a really bad day and exercised bad judgment. Eventually she will have to explain it to their congregation. You reap what you sow, and she is not done reaping the consequences of delaying a flight because of a bad moment of judgment. This is a lesson for us all, isn’t it?Re: Wife of Houston minister delays flight to VailI appreciate that Pastor Osteen was very calm, but I think it would had been a good move on his part to strongly encourage his wife to also remain calm and try to show courtesy and politeness even in that situation. After all, I’m sure a great many of people whom he has reached with the Gospel go through things much worst than what she suffered during her seating on that Monday’s flight.Re: Playing god with genetic tinkeringI think that genetically modifying foods is wrong because basically, they’re not real, natural foods. They are not natural, you have injected chemicals that some people could be allergic to, and that’s not obeying the laws of Mother Nature because you’re tampering with foods that we eat. But on the other end, Gm foods can improve nutritional value, taste, color, etc. Re: Wife of Houston minister delays flight to VailNo, the real question is: why were they riding commercial! The Osteens are blessed! Amen for being normal! Re: Wife of Houston minister delays flight to VailGrow up! Organized religion is, and has been, a monstrous money-maker since its inception. Of course they’re going to fly first class. They’ve fleeced enough people to afford it.Re: Center of criticismI think these two columns have been pretty weak in terms of advocacy for readers. Not only was Rogers rude, I feel he was repeatedly out of line with his slanted choice of words used in commentaries about opposition to the convention center. Citizens expecting any high standard of journalism to be exhibited in the Daily are usually going to be disappointed. It’s about the advertising income.Re: TipslineAll the problems with global warming, polution, starving children is caused due to overpopulation. As long as goverments reward unwed mothers with welfare and child support, this will contiune to spiral out of control. Vail, Colorado
