On the Vail Daily Web site, you can comment on each story or editorial you read there. Here, we publish excerpts of those comments:Re: Merry capitalism!I find the PC wording “Happy Holidays” and “holiday” tree repulsive. My children, from babyhood on, have baked a cake each year. It says simply, “Happy Birthday Baby Jesus,” a small reminder of what Christmas represents. And re: “a harmless old wreath can make the non-believers feel a little like lepers in the eyes of the government … ” – too darn bad. Majority rules and 85 percent of Americans believe in CHRIST-mas.If parents don’t like it, they have choices. Home school, pull your kids out for the week, put them in private schools. I say “Merry Christmas” and I say it in public school. If people want to answer back “Happy Hannukah,” or “Happy Devils Week,” or “Happy Kwannza (the made-up religion), then so be it. Life is like that. Deal with it.Re: Frisco says no to The Home DepotThe proponents of turning Frisco into just another clone of all the endless suburbs across America (by adding Home Depot) fail to recognize that the sales tax revenue is not a windfall. That is the citizens’ money. Wisely, they’d rather spend their sales tax dollars at locally-owned establishments that really benefit the local economy. Wisely, they wish to preserve the charm and character that represent the real treasure to be found within Frisco. I wouldn’t go to Frisco to visit Home Depot. I can do that in any God-forsaken, characterless suburb.Dave Gardnerwww.savethesprings.orgRe: Wisdom from the WebI to have had way too many problems with the Avon Postal Service. I have been trying to get my son’s medication online, saves us a lot of money, and cause of the billing address on my credit card and the shipping address, they only use Fed-Ex or DHL. I can not get it. The Avon Post Office returned the last shipment. Thank you very much. Re: Wisdom from the WebAh, the good old Avon Post Office, if they don’t lose it, the return it to the sender as undeliverable, or they just hide it in the back for six months then deliver it to you. I agree it is a pretty third world system. Re: Tipsline”In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile…We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” – Theodore Roosevelt, 1907Vail, Colorado
