Buddy will be missed

Re: “Bert ‘Buddy’ Calhoun, Edwards rancher, 1946-2007”

Buddy was like a big brother. While in Vail, as Cordillera’s first Director of Marketing, I lived at the Lazy Ranch.

In addition to Buddy teaching me how to make knives and tool leather for chaps, he taught me many life lessons that still are in my heart today. He will truly be missed.

Memories of Buddy

Re: “Bert ‘Buddy’ Calhoun, Edwards rancher, 1946-2007”

I just wanted to express my condolences to the Calhoun family over Buddy’s death, as my family knew the Calhouns. Ardyth, Buddy’s mother, especially, would come into our store.

I have a memory, circa 1960, of being around 4 years old, and my mother taking me to a picnic, involving the surrounding ranchers, up Lake Creek, at a place known to the locals, at the time, as the “Big Tree,” which was this very large and old evergreen tree. Buddy was 10 years older than me, and, that day, at the picnic, he was a good friend to me. That memory has always stayed with me to this day.
