Vail needs to recruit local businesses
Re: “Why other resorts love to hate Vail”
“Vail. There’s no comparison.”
Actually there is a comparison. Last time I checked nearly every town has several Starbucks, McDonalds, and new car dealerships (that’s right, I’m talking about the Volvo showroom on Bridge Street.)
Vail needs to continue to encourage and promote a unique local experience otherwise you are just another homogeneous ski area. That means more “Colorado Proud” products and companies involved in creating a “no comparison” experience.
Imported goods still help economy
Re: “Economic bailout helps no one”
A good made in China and sold by Target here in the United States still benefits our economy. A U.S. worker manned the register at Target, a U.S. worker moved the good from port to store, a U.S. worker still decides what to buy and place in the store at Target headquarters.
That store takes out ads in your local paper. That local paper pays someone for commentary. See how it works?
