BEAVER CREEK – People in Beaver Creek can test their wit today, Saturday and Sunday during the cartoon caption writing contest, one of the main events of Humor on the Slopes, a new festival featuring eight New Yorker cartoonists.

Each participating artist will provide a snow or winter snowsports-themed captionless illustration. Throughout the days of the event, guests will be invited to submit a caption to the cartoon(s) of their choice. Bob Mankoff, cartoon editor for The New Yorker, will select one winner per cartoon. Winners receive a $250 gift certificate to the Beaver Creek Village merchant of their choice, a copy of “The New Yorker Book of Cartoons” and their cartoon hand-captioned by the artist.

Winners will be announced during the Humor on the Slopes Panel Discussion in the Gore Range Room at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek on Sunday between 7-8 p.m. Winners will also be notified by email.KZYR has donated a one-night stay at The Monaco in Denver plus two tickets to Comedy Works in Denver to be awarded to the best local caption submission. There will be one chosen recipient from Eagle County. Winner must present an Eagle County ID. There is no limit to the number of cartoons or captions entered.
