Woman, 5 children injured in crash; man arrested

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” A 45-year-old man has been arrested and jailed on suspicion of driving under the influence and other charges after a crash in Grand Junction that sent six people to a hospital.

Police say Edward Wildrick was driving west in a Ford Explorer on Wednesday afternoon when he ran a red light and slammed into a Dodge minivan making a left turn.

A woman and five children ” ages 3 to 10 ” were taken to a hospital. Grand Junction police spokeswoman Kate Porras says one of the children may have suffered broken bones.



Cpl. Rob Dillon says Wildrick was arrested after he failed roadside sobriety tests.

Wildrick was taken into custody on suspicion of reckless driving causing injury, vehicular assault, DUI, failure to stop at a red light and attempted hit and run.
