Woman raped in Edwards, cops say

A woman who says she was raped near a Highway 6 bus stop in Edwards described her attacks as an overweight Hispanic male, about 40 to 50 years old and about 180 pounds.

EDWARDS ” A 22-year-old woman says a man raped her near a bus stop on Highway 6 around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The woman was walking in Edwards along Highway 6 near Bull Run when a man sitting at a bus stop asked her for a cigarette. As she walked away, the man knocked her down and raped her, the release said.

The woman screamed, broke free and ran to a nearby apartment complex. She was bruised and scratched from the assault, the release said.

The woman admitted herself to the Vail Valley Medical Center at 4 a.m. and said that she’d been raped by a Hispanic male.

The suspect was last seen running east on Highway 6 in Edwards. He was described as a Hispanic male, 40 to 50 years old, who spoke English. He was about 5’8″ and overweight at 180 pounds. He had a pock-marked or acne-scarred face, black hair and a rat-tail, the release said.
