Woman rescued after 40-foot fall near Aspen
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN, Colorado – An Aspen woman was hospitalized after falling 40 feet Sunday afternoon near Lincoln Creek, off Highway 82 east of Aspen.
The accident was reported around 1:40 p.m. Karen Sahn, 40, of Aspen, was rock climbing with three friends when the fall occurred, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.
Mountain Rescue Aspen sent its first team into the field at about 2:30 p.m. and Sahn was transported to a waiting ambulance at about 3:20 p.m., the sheriff’s office said. She was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital.
Rescuers used bolt cutters to open the gate on Lincoln Creek Road, which had not yet been opened for the summer.
