VAIL – Dagny McKinley says she will attempt to break the Guinness world record for most hugs in 24 hours Saturday at Vail’s Teva Mountain Games.

McKinley, a writer and dogsledding guide from Steamboat Springs, is targeting the current record of 7,777 hugs set by a man in Las Vegas. McKinley says she’s making the attempt to raise money for the “Save Audrey Rose Fund.”

Audrey Rose, McKinley says, is a fictional character of hers who is at one with nature and the fund is being created to develop workshops that engage girls with the outdoors. She says she also donate money to Kris Hoffman for his first Iditarod race next year.

McKinley failed to break the record during an attempt at the Winter X Games in Aspen in January.
