Woman ticketed twice in 24 hours

AVON ” The personalized license plate “IBEEBAD,” a yellow Jeep and a DUI ticket the night before made an arrest easy, according to an Avon Police Department report.

A 37-year-old woman was sitting in her Jeep with a can of Bud Light beer in her lap when an officer approached her in a gas station parking lot Sunday about 10 p.m.

She had not done anything wrong and just stopped to “pee,” she said. She smelled of alcohol, swayed during her sobriety test and had blood alcohol content of .086 during a breath test.

She was ticketed for excessive alcohol on her breath and driving under the influence.

The next afternoon, an officer who aided another in the incident the night before saw the Jeep parked in a bank’s lot.

He recognized the woman, who began to drive away, so he stopped her. He asked whether she had a temporary driving permit. She did, she said, and showed him her ticket.

A box marked “no” for a temporary permit was checked and the woman was ticketed for driving while her license was revoked.

RED CLIFF ” A man who called another man a name got his jaw broken when his face was stomped on a curb, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

A man, 29, was eating dinner at Mangos Mountain Grill when a another man, 34, called him a “pussy” and asked if he wanted to go outside.

They went outside and the 34-year-old grabbed the 29-year-old by his shirt, pushed him against the wall and punched his face twice. The 29-year-old defended himself and the men fell to the ground, he said.

The 29-year-old broke free and noticed that the 34-year-old seemed dazed, so he went to the nearest phone to call 911, he said.

A witness who went out to break up the fight saw the 29-year-old stomp the 34-year-old’s face on a curb while the 34-year-old was lying on the ground, he said.

The man broke his jaw and a tooth, an emergency room doctor said. He damaged three other teeth and got stitches above his eyebrow and on his lip.

The 29-year-old was jailed for first-degree assault and the 34-year-old was ticketed for third-degree assault. Both were ticketed for disorderly conduct.
