Women Build this week for Habitat

Daily Staff Report

EAGLE The local branch of Habitat for Humanitys Women Build project is taking place this week. Women will do all the construction this week while men will provide support and training. It is a great opportunity for women volunteers to learn construction skills and discover that women can build homes and have a direct impact on poverty housing, Program Director Kalie Palmer said. Women Build Week 2006 also gives us the opportunity build enthusiasm in the community for Women Build 2007 where women will fund and build an entire home in partnership with a Habitat family, Palmer said. Women Build is not about excluding men it is about including women, Palmer said. Nationally, women make up 50 percent of Habitats volunteer force, yet women account for only 15 percent of volunteers actively doing construction, she saidTo volunteer for Women Build Week 2006 or to get involved in Women Build 2007 contact Habitat for Humanity of Eagle & Lake Counties at 748-6718 or e-mail kalie@habitateaglelake.org.
