VAIL – Vail continues to work toward its “new dawn,” with construction projects going on in Vail Village and Lionshead. Here’s an update on the progress of the projects.Arrabelle at Vail SquareWorkers are still delivering and installing pre-cast concrete, and steel framing is also being installed. Delivery of a second tower crane is expected within the next two weeks. Vail Resorts is also working on plans for the streetscape for the pedestrian area, said spokesman Paul Witt. The building began in April and will be completed by late 2007. The Arrabelle will have 67 condos and a 36-room hotel. The building is on the site of the old gondola building in Lionshead.Sonnenalp

At the expansion of the Sonnenalp Bavaria Haus, all of the new hotel rooms are complete and guests are staying in them, said Project Superintendent Brad Church. Crews are still working on some offices for hotel staff. Workers are also waiting for snow to melt to work on sidewalks and landscaping, Church said. Construction, which began in April, is expected be complete June 15. The expansion includes 41 hotel rooms, offices, underground parking and a restaurant, Church said. The Sonnenalp is on Vail Road at the corner of East Meadow Drive.One Willow Bridge RoadWorkers are still finishing roofing, exterior stucco and stone, framing, electrical and plumbing. Inspections on the interiors should begin soon, said superintendent Craig McPeek. The project is expected to be completed by July. The building will include 12 timeshares, 10 condos, two spas, an outdoor pool and stores on the first floor, McPeek said. Work began in January 2005. One Willow Bridge Road is at the International Bridge and East Meadow Drive in Vail Village.Vail Plaza Hotel and ClubWorkers are still installing steel and pouring concrete, said Michelle Willyard, project engineer. The steel installation should be finished by late March, and the concrete should be finished by April 1, she said. Subcontractors are working on electrical, framing and plumbing, she said. The Vail Plaza Hotel and Club is between the frontage road and East Meadow Drive in Vail Village. The project includes 100 hotel rooms, 38 timeshares, two restaurants and a spa. It is expected to be completed in December. Construction began in November 2004.

Four SeasonsExcavation of the Four Seasons site should begin in late spring. The building will have 120 hotel rooms, 16 condos and 19 timeshares. David Brooks, senior project manager with the John Hardy Group, said construction will hopefully begin in April or May, with excavation and shoring. The Four Seasons will be just southwest of the main Vail roundabout. It’s supposed to be completed in 2008.Gore Creek PlacePhased work continues on all 16 townhouses at Gore Creek Place, with the easternmost homes closest to completion. Workers are doing interior finishes on the first two townhouses, and they will start framing the last two in the next two weeks, Witt said. There are 16 townhouses, each with four or five bedrooms. Vail Resorts Development Company hopes to finish the first homes this spring. The entire project should be done by the end of the year. The project began in late 2004. Completion of the project is expected in the spring. The three-story project is comprised of one commercial unit – Vail International Gallery, which is already open – and a two-story residence. The building is on East Meadow Drive in Vail Village.AlpenroseThe Alpenrose restaurant in Vail Village is expected to reopen in later this month. Construction began last November, and the restaurant will have new floors and booths.
