Worker rescued after 20-foot fall on Front Range

FORT COLLINS, Colorado ” A man has been rescued and hospitalized with two broken legs after falling 20 feet while working on a pump station in Larimer County.

The Poudre Fire Authority says 30-year-old Jose T. Flores was alone on Monday when he lost his footing and fell into a pit housing part of the pump station.

A woman who was walking her dog heard Flores’ cries for help and called 911 on her cell phone but had trouble describing her location because she’s new to the area.

Dispatchers relayed messages to rescue crews about landmarks until the woman’s phone signal hit a satellite that communicated her location.

Authorities say Flores and a co-worker were installing a heater when the co-worker left to get equipment.
