Workshop offered on seedling trees in Eagle
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE, Colorado – Colorado State University Extension of Eagle County and the Colorado State Forest Service are teaming up to offer citizens a free workshop on seedling trees from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eagle Public Library, located at 600 Broadway in Eagle. The workshop is part of the Colorado State Forest Service Seedling Tree Program, which offers low-cost seedlings to Colorado landowners with a minimum of one acre of property.
“CSFS offers low-cost seedlings to encourage landowners to reforest and diversify their properties, establish windbreaks, enhance property values and establish wildlife habitat,” said Jacob McCarthy, forester with the State Forest Service.
The free workshop will educate people on how to select, plant and care for seedling trees. Local landowners with a minimum of 1 acre of property may order low-cost seedlings now through April 19 and are encouraged to order as early as possible for the best selection. Applications for purchasing seedlings are available at http://www.eaglecounty.us/csu and will also be available at the workshop. Neighbors and homeowner associations may place orders together to meet the 1-acre requirement. Seedlings will be delivered to Eagle County in May; the CSU Extension Office will notify purchasers of the pickup date and procedures several weeks prior to delivery.
To learn more about the seedling tree program, receive an application for purchasing seedling trees or to RSVP for the workshop, contact CSU Extension at 970-328-8630 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
