Xcel to begin natural-gas pipeline work
May 14, 2011
DENVER – Xcel Energy will begin work Monday to replace 7.8 miles of high-pressure natural-gas pipeline along U.S. Highway 6 between Edwards and Minturn (near Meadow Mountain). The construction work is expected to continue until October.
Xcel Energy is replacing the 6-inch, high-pressure natural-gas line with 16-inch pipe to meet growing customer demand for natural gas and improve reliability.
• Construction will take place, generally, each day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Construction generally will take place six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Construction will take place primarily in the north side of the westbound lane along the entire route.
• The company will work each day in approximately 500-foot segments. When a 2,500-foot segment has been completed, that section will be permanently repaved.
• Weekly construction updates can be obtained by calling 877-481-6380 or by visiting http://www.xceledwards-minturnhpgaspipeline.com.
