Yoga workshops in Vail this week
VAIL – The Yoga Studio at The Vail Athletic Club welcomes back Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga instructor TeriLeigh Schmidt for three days of workshops that begin Thursday. Schmidt will lend her expertise in the chakra, or energetic system, to a detox flow from 6 p.m. to 8 o.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each session costs $35.”Even if you’ve never heard of the chakra system, you will learn from these workshops because TeriLeigh is ultimately speaking to your intuition, your body, your senses and sensations,” says senior teacher Rachel Nelson.Schmidt says she discovered yoga and her ability to read people’s energy as a child. The Midwesterner suffered from severe depression in the late 1990s before taking up yoga again in 2001, which she found more effective than medication in curbing her depression. Shortly after, Schmidt was hit by a truck crossing the street yet avoided severe injury, for which she credits her yoga practice.”TeriLeigh is one of those increasingly common examples of a person whose life has been saved and then greatly enriched by yoga,” says Nelson. “Her students are never less than inspired by her strength, knowledge and unique intuition.” Schmidt will also be available for private consultations by appointment through the weekend.
