VAIL –Eagle Valley Music and Comics in West Vail is giving away free comics Saturday.

Every year, hundreds of comic book stores across the country participate in what’s known as “Free Comic Book Day.” Various publishers create books especially for this day.

The books range from kid friendly, like Archie and Little Lulu, to more teen-oriented books, like Iron Man and Superman. Also, some of the smaller companies offer books that will appeal to the more mature reader.

Tom Robbins, owner of Eagle Valley Music and Comics, said that this is his second year participating, and expects it to be bigger than last year.

“We’ve got a lot of really great books to give away this year, so I’m looking for an even better turn out this time around,” Robbins said. “It’s fun to see the kids who come in with their families freak out when they see the books, as well as the folks that haven’t read or collected in years.

“You can see their passion for the books, the stories, and their favorite characters re-ignite in their eyes after perusing just a few books,” he said.

The free comics are available from 10 a.m. until midnight. A person can receive up to five books free of charge and more with purchase.

Eagle Valley Music and Comics is located in the West Vail Mall, in the back row between West Vail Liquormart and The Sandbar. For more information, 970-476-1713.
