Young skier dies after fall at Copper

DENVER – A 17-year-old Crested Butte boy died Sunday after falling on a jump in the Copper Mountain Terrain Park a day earlier, Summit County Coroner Joanne Richardson said.Asher Crank, who was wearing a helmet, apparently fell on his head from a height of 30 feet, Richardson said. The accident happened during the warmup and inspection period for a sanctioned competition in the terrain park, the resort said.Crank was flown to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver on Saturday and was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Richardson said.Crank skied competitively for the Crested Butte Academy team.
