YouthPower365 to host youth career pathways summit in Vail Nov. 6

The Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365 invites students, businesses and community members to “Beyond the Path: Youth Charting the Course,” a free youth career pathways summit taking place Nov. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Lodge at Vail.

The day-long summit will bring together program providers, businesses, community members and partners dedicated to supporting career pathways for young people under age 25. The agenda includes diverse presentations spotlighting local efforts, inspiring programs, and career pathway trends. The keynote speaker and facilitator, Dr. Doannie Tran, will help lead authentic conversation with youth and families as part of community visioning.

Summit highlights

The summit will feature keynote speaker Dr. Doannie Tran, co-founder of the Open Systems Institute and co-author of “The Open System: Redesigning Education and Reigniting Democracy,” which proposes reframing educational institutions as open systems that are adaptable and responsive to the needs of students, families, and communities. His work focuses on family and community empowerment as a lever for systems change, and he has helped launch community co-creation projects nationwide.



In addition to the keynote address, the full-day program will also include:

  • Program round robin: Learn about efforts across the county and beyond to create career pathways. 
  • Interactive workshop: Engage with students and parents on their pathway journeys; learn what is working and what needs more resources, engagement, and strategy.
  • New developments: Hear about the new registered apprentice program with Vail Valley Partnership and efforts to reach 18 to 25-year-olds.
  • The changing landscape: Learn how technology and other trends are transforming career pathways for youth.

The summit will also include a light breakfast, lunch and snacks. Afterwards, attendees 21+ can enjoy a complimentary cocktail at the 10th Mountain Whiskey showroom in Vail.
