Vail Daily column: Finish the season strong

Burton came rolling into Vail this past weekend with the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding event, which was exciting and full of energy. Despite some wind delays, the caliber of competition, awe-inspiring size of the massive course and halfpipe, and the energy generated from the nightly concerts and after-parties combined in the perfect mix of world-class event that Vail has become synonymous for. The Vail business community welcomes, appreciates and supports events such as these as they add to the economic and brand vitality of our town. Congrats to all those who competed, planned and participated in any way to this past weekend!

We now face the final 35 days of the season to bring the 2016 winter season home. This is the time for us to all make sure we are still mid-season sharp, our best foot is forward and our staff is engaged and committed. The teamwork displayed at all of the previous month’s events was top of the class and very successful because of a unified commitment to our guests. Are we ready to produce the same level of service to our most valued guests, our spring break crowd? We continue to draw our clientele from all corners of the world and they expect the top level service we provide and we cannot let them down. Can we, as the business community, rally our teams to finish the season? Are you ready for the next 35 days?

Take a look at your business. Windows clean, displays top-notch, staff looking sharp? The 2016 season has been great so far. Our town looks great, the infrastructures have been improved greatly and Vail still shines in the afterglow of last season’s World Championships efforts. We all work hard and strive to give our guests the quality of service and experiences they are anticipating as they travel to our valley for their vacations. Will you and your team make sure the last 35 days of the season continue to meet or exceed our guests’ expectations?

In addition to the amazing events left in the season such as Pink Vail and Taste of Vail, The Vail Chamber and Business Association has teamed up with the town of Vail, Vail Resorts and the Vail Film Festival to enhance this year’s end of season Spring Back to Vail festivities. The Vail business community will be promoting under the Spring Back to Vail umbrella its “Spring Back Triple R Rewards.” Triple R stands for “restaurant, retail and relaxation,” which represents each sector of business community. We are looking for our Vail businesses to put forth some fun promotions specific to their business that will entice guests to attend our end of season weekend and which will enhance their experience. We also want to not only end the season with a bang but remind those in attendance that another season is starting — spring season. If the promotions are good on that last weekend, guess what? They get even sweeter once the mountain closes. What a great opportunity to celebrate the end of a great season but also remind everyone that just because the mountain is closed, it does not mean our town and its businesses are closed too. Some call spring the best season, things quiet down, restaurants provide fantastic specials, retailers are looking to move winter gear to make room for their summer inventory, and our lodging community provides very attractive room rates. The Vail Chamber and Business Association is proud of who we represent and how we go about doing that. We thank the town of Vail and Vail Resorts for shining the light on our businesses and our community. The season’s end is in sight, and let’s finish this season with a strong showing to our neighbors and guests of how strong Vail’s guest services are. Let’s make the last 35 days of the season as good as the first and finish this year on an great note that will carry us on through to summer.
