Vail Daily column: Summer an exciting time for Vail
What an exciting time to be in Vail! As a California transplant and five-year resident of Colorado, I feel so blessed to be a part of this great community at such an electric time in its history. As a resort operator, it is wonderful to be coming off of such a great winter season and into a summer that is filled with so many events, concerts, weddings and just overall strong pacing for occupancy. All of this good energy is of course building toward the winter of 2014-15 when we are lucky enough to have the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships of skiing adding excitement and buzz at a global level to our already fantastic destination.
This year has been a special one for me professionally as I have recently joined the board of the Vail Chamber and Business Association. I have been so impressed with my fellow board members and the hard work that they have done to ensure that the VCBA serves as a liaison for our business community. Prior to joining the board, I had little insight into the logistics of this particular chamber. It has been a pleasant surprise to see how much has been accomplished, and how many great initiatives are already in the works.
Attend Annual Meeting
One of the best ways for the local community to stay in touch with the VCBA is to attend our annual meeting. This year’s meeting will be held at The Sebastian-Vail on July 1 from 9-11 a.m. Each year our executive director, Alison Wadey, goes to great lengths to make sure that we have not only a strong attendance from the chamber membership, but that we also have a solid group of prospective members as well. In addition to our update and our member participation, we are excited to announce that we will have some fantastic guest presenters as well. Our mayor Andy Daly, Vail Valley Foundation President and CEO Ceil Folz and leaders from the marketing team at Vail Resorts will all have the floor to bring the business community up to speed on a variety of topics.
