Letter: It wasn’t Pete Seibert’s boo-boo
Actually the straight lift line up Golden Peak was cut by Chuck Lewis while Pete Seibert was away in Europe. This resulted in the departure of Chuck from Vail Associates. Pete’s solution to preserve Golden Peak was a lift connecting Golden Peak with chair #11. Pete was a genius in laying out the mountain.
This saved the majestic beauty of Golden Peak for the entire village to enjoy. It is a view that can be appreciated from almost anywhere in Vail and from Interstate 70 after you enter the Vail Valley past Dowd Junction, especially in the fall when the colors are in breathtaking. This now will be sacrificed to the demand of Vail Resorts to build a mediocre race course after they ruined International by building a bunch of expensive condominiums. At that time we were told, “We’ll just move chair 1 and re-do the course.”
We all knew this was BS. Now we are losing a major asset of beauty and what is the position of the town council? Do they have one? The proposal will create an unbelievable mess around the Golden Peak area and the town will be faced with solving the problem. As the saying goes, “We make the money, you handle the mess.”
