Letter: Mayor responds to Avon barn vote

I want to thank all the Avon participants who responded to the Hahnewald barn community survey. The turnout was extraordinary and demonstrated a substantial and genuine interest in this issue. The message was also crystal clear.

When the council decided to refer the question of the Hahnewald barn project to a community survey I stated that it was important to respect its outcome. As one member of council, on Tuesday night I will vote to take no further action and vote to spend no additional Town funds on the Hahnewald barn project.

I am very glad that the town conducted the survey. It demonstrates the value of robust citizen engagement, and it is my intention that the town will continue to find creative ways to engage and benefit from the insight and passion of our diverse community.
