Letter: Salute to the Vail Pickleball Open

Boise Pickleball Club salutes Jerry Stevens and all his efforts bringing world-class pickleball to Vail. Word travels fast. We are very excited here in Idaho to hear of Vail’s great success.

Elkhorn Resorts in Sun Valley is undergoing a $1 million renovation turning what was a tennis center into a combined pickleball/tennis facility with major emphasis on pickleball, with a completion date in 2020.

Vail gets it! Steamboat gets it! Breckenridge gets it! Aspen and Telluride all have exploding pickleball programs.

What’s next? I suggest regional pickleball tournaments between ski resorts. Who will be first to make their claim?  Sun Valley?

Vail Resorts? Aspen? Perhaps Stowe, Vermont. The amount of synergy between ski resorts and pickleball is amazing. I haven’t seen this excitement since the hot dog skiing days at Vail in 1973.

Anyone know if Wayne Wong, Scott Brooksbank or Eddie Ferguson play pickleball? The future is going to be awesome. We are bidding on the USAPA NW regionals in Boise in 2020.

We look forward to more Vail pickleball tournaments.
