Vail Daily letter: A grave threat

Enough already of political correctness and denial — it is way past time for a loud wake-up call, and for all people of intelligence and goodwill to recognize the existential threat posed by radical Islam and take appropriate action.

Today, the followers of Islam number about 1.6 billion people — for the most part peace-loving individuals. However of this number it is estimated that between 15 and 25 percent have been radicalized to the point that they are suicidal and will do all in their power to kill infidels and destroy all of Western civilization. This group constitutes a small but very dangerous minority, whose actions and objectives are reminiscent of relatively recent horrific events in Germany, Russia, Japan, China, Cambodia and elsewhere.

This powerful force of some 200 million to 300 million inbred, illiterate, fuzzy-faced, rag-headed, woman-hating, suicidal, sand-pounding, nutcake followers of radical Islam (mostly young males) presents a clear and present danger to the continued existence of the civilized world.

The danger increases every year as Muslims are outbreeding Christians by a factor of two or three, their backward lives and pathetic existence grows more desperate daily, their leaders become more radical and demanding by the moment while the ability of these folks to do real harm to the West has increased exponentially with the evolution and widespread availability of weapons of mass destruction as large parts of once sovereign states such as Syria, Iraq, Iran, Bulgaria and the Ukraine fall under the control of radical forces. Chemical, biological or nuclear, choose your poison, as these WMDs are readily available on the black market in many parts of the world.

Will it take the delivery of one or more atomic, dirty or hydrogen bombs placed in unmarked and anonymous shipping containers, then simultaneous detonated in the heart of several major cities in the United States and Europe (Washington, New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels, for example) to bring this threat into clear focus? The events of 9/11 should be viewed by everyone as simply a dress rehearsal for what the future could hold.

Sadly, by then it will be too late as millions of innocent civilians will have been incinerated, many millions more gravely wounded, once great cities obliterated or rendered unlivable, and the closely knit economy of the world will most likely be shattered and unlikely to recover any time soon, if ever.

For what the ensuing landscape might look like, recall any number of scenes from the film “Road Warrior.” Armageddon, the apocalypse, or whatever one chooses to call it, the outcome will be the same — the end of the Age of Enlightenment and for the unlucky survivors, a grim existence reminiscent of the Dark Ages.

Our president and all the other leaders of the free world (Russia and China as well) must unite, pay attention, join together and systematically address this most serious threat to our way of life before such an attack becomes a reality, as many of the other potential threats to modern society (overpopulation, climate change, solar flares, the impact of an asteroid, etc.) pale in comparison.
