Vail Daily letter: Coming to Vail next year
For the past year, I have had the privilege of serving as president of the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers. This highly active association is over 600 members strong and focuses on information exchange, training and continuing education to ensure we serve our local, state, provincial, national and international agencies at the highest level possible.
I’ve been a member of IACREOT since 1996 and have found tremendous value in participating in this association because of the broad opportunities for networking and the sharing of ideas. Those ideas have led to the implementation of successful best practices for Eagle County, including improved personal property tax collection, upgrades to more efficient computer systems, and creation of a telephone campaign program which has increased the collection of delinquent property taxes. The development of concepts gained from Eagle County’s participation in IACREOT has led to seven national awards.
In serving as president during the last year, I’ve had the opportunity to lead efforts to build our membership and to help facilitate a very successful and educational annual conference in Bonita Springs, Fla., with 225 members in attendance. However, I am most proud of our success in bringing the organization to the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort for next year’s annual conference. Between attendees, family members and vendors, over 500 people are expected to visit Eagle County in June of 2015 as part of the conference.
I’ve been honored to represent Eagle County as treasurer for the last 19 years, and my term as president of IACREOT has allowed me the opportunity to showcase Eagle County’s commitment to excellence. I hope you will join me in welcoming IACREOT to our wonderful area next summer.
