Vail Daily letter: Great music, great cause
United Way of Eagle River Valley is a proud supporter of the Vilar Performing Arts Center STARS (Support the Arts Reaching Students) Series. This innovative and effective program is a series of free performances and workshops that promote artistic, educational and cultural enrichment to local Eagle County students. Attending a STARS performance offers students the experience of live theater, dance and music as well as hands-on opportunities in the arts. The program includes in-school workshops, poetry writing sessions and discussions with the artists. This year, the program is being offered free of charge, including transportation to and from the schools, to pre-K to eighth-grade Eagle County students. Professional shows and the associated workshops cover a wide array of subjects including history, storytelling, dance, poetry, opera, classical music, self-confidence and violence prevention.
Our United Way of Eagle River Valley is honored to have been selected by the Vilar Performing Arts Center as their featured partner nonprofit Sunday. The Vilar Center is hosting another one of the best deals for fall, Underground Sound, and as part of that series they will present San Jose Taiko, demonstrating the explosive art of the Japanese drum, at 7:30 p.m. The following day, this program will be presented as part of the STARS program at 10 a.m. for grades 5-8 and again at 12:30 p.m. for grades 2-4.
We hope to see you at the Vilar Performing Arts Center Sunday at 7:30 p.m. to catch up on the latest with us here at United Way of Eagle River County and to come discover great music at an incredible venue! Tickets to San Jose Taiko are available online at vilarpac.org or by calling the VPAC box office at 970-845-TIXS.
