Vail Daily letter: Lafarge comes through for senior citizen

Some businesses still go the extra mile when their help is needed. After deciding to change the landscaping in my yard to better protect it from the threat of wildfire, I decided to replace several walking paths with gravel. After contacting the Lafarge Gypsum Ranch Ready Mix facility east of town, I discovered the delivery charge would far exceed the cost of the small amount of gravel I would need.

Several employees were determined to find a solution. After a few days, and much to my surprise, I received a phone call from Lafarge informing me they were rerouting their concrete workers because of the inclement weather and would arrange for a complimentary delivery of the gravel.

I’d like to thank the staff of Lafarge — including dispatch manager Art Prater, plant supervisor Dustin Juedemann and driver Mike Seggall — for making a rainy Monday a very sunny day for an especially appreciative senior citizen.
