Vail Daily letter: Need housing in Vail

Our valley’s affordable housing shoratage for year-round resident employees is at an all-time high. Demographic trends clearly indicate that the population growth of the Vail Valley is outpacing the availability of housing units. This adversely affects the business community’s ability to attract and retain employees.

Scott Miller’s “Will Town Hall move west to Chamonix parcel?” on Jan. 25 notes that some members favor an option to reduce a proposed 100-plus housing units to allow commercial space development.

This proposal should not see further light of day. It demonstrates a serious misplacement of priorities.

This opportunity should not be squandered, as the Chamonix property presents the last best chance to build necessary units at present.
