Vail Daily letter: Regulate corporate greed
Giant corporations like Vail Resorts bring vast improvements to the infrastructure of our mountain communities, but we as citizens must continue to encourage these corporations to act in the best interest of all, including their workers.
What is not known by many guests is that in the full day $750-plus private lessons given by the Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone ski schools, some of the instructors teaching the lessons make less than $100 working a full day.
That sentence bears repeating. Most people would say that borders on greed.
The problem is magnified by the political capture by the elites. Current State Sen. Kerry Donovan, a Democrat, formerly in management for the Vail Ski & Snowboard, does not support a raise in the minimum wage to $15 per hour on giant corporations like Vail Resorts or Wal-mart.
Kerry’s good friends are also Obama’s “best friends,” notoriously anti-union Chicago billionaires that own Aspen Skiing.
Greed and crony capitalism must be regulated in any democracy.
