Vail Daily letter: Sister city event a success
On behalf of Patronato Pro Ninos, the San Miguel nonprofit that provides health care to disadvantaged youth, I am writing to thank all those who contributed to the success of the sister city reception that we sponsored last Thursday at the Vail Library Community Room.
The participation by Vail’s new Mayor Dave Chapin and council person Kim Langmaid was appreciated, and we thank them for their time and for Mayor Chapin’s encouraging remarks.
Our goal is to preserve and nurture the sister-city relationship. We believe that the two communities have much to learn from each other at the municipal government and the NGO levels. We envision a fruitful, multi-cultural community building effort.
The wonderful artwork of fellow “dual residents” Joan Norris and Jim Lamont was a big draw and continues on display through Dec. 15. We also appreciate the promotional hand given us by the Vail Daily. I invite anyone interested in the “good deeds” of Patronato Pro Nino to go to our English-language web site, patronatoproninos.org.
