Vail Daily letter: Support senior center

With your help and mine the Castle Peak Senior Care Community will be a reality!

CPSCC will be located at the end of Capitol Street in Eagle Ranch. The $44 million facility will provide 20 assisted living rental apartments, 12 memory care private units, 22 skilled nursing private units, and 10 transitional care private units. A large facility to meet a large and growing need for us here in the Eagle Valley. As the need increases, additions will be added. At full development, 110 persons will be served.

In March, I was a resident at the Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale for three weeks while a broken thigh bone was mending. It was a wonderful experience. With the CPSCC, we won’t have to travel so far to receive the same (or better) care and rehabilitation.

Eagle County donated the land. After loans and grants, there was $4.4 million needed to be raised from our community. The heavy hitters, banks, associations, other medical facilities and doctors stepped up to the challenge, donating $3.7 million.

That leaves $700,000 for you and me to bring the funding over the top so construction can begin this December. We can do it!

I believe that every family or individual in the Vail Valley can afford a donation of $50 (or more). (We and our four children are donating.)

Aggregate donations of $500 and more can have a paver placed at the CPSCC in their names.

You can make your donation at; click on “Donate now.”

By phone: Call Augusta Care, 970-445-8990; by mail: send check payable to “Augusta Care” at P.O. Box 2127, Edwards, CO 81632.

I am reminded of an old saying: “Mister can you spare a dime?” Well with inflation, et al, how about $50-plus?

The need is real; the reality of the Castle Peak Senior Care Center is almost here.

It needs our support, yours and mine, to put the funding goal over the top.
