Vail Daily letter: Thank you

If you missed the obituary in the Vail Daily on Jan. 7, Kelly Hethcote passed away peacefully in his home Jan. 3 after a courageous battle to survive as long as he could with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service and celebration of life is planned for March 22 at 5 p.m. at Vail Christian High School.

His family, his wife, Monica, and children Ryan and Maddy, would like to thank everyone in the community who supported us during this very difficult time. Thank you to Vail Valley Home Health Care and Hospice for your kind, compassionate and loving care of Kelly, especially his CNA Niki and nurse Mindy. You gave him and our family so many “gifts” while he was in your care and made his journey through the process more about life than death.

A special thanks to Caren Davis for setting up and maintaining the bring a meal program, and her family’s support and help, too; Gretchen Hennum and Sheryl Essex for the many meals and support; Melita Kuhns and her family for the meals and support and all the other people, too many to name, who brought us meals and all the prayers. A special thanks to Charlie and Carol Wick for the meals, help, prayers and friendship. Thank you to everyone at Vail Christian High School for all your support of Ryan and Eagle Valley High School for your support of Maddy, especially her dance team coach Cindy Ramunno during this extremely challenging time in their lives. Thank you to my employer, Bob Warner, for his understanding and support through this long and difficult process. Thank you to Pastor Kari from First Lutheran for your support, visits and prayers through the process from the beginning, and your ongoing support after including planning Kelly’s service.

The family would like to invite all who knew Kelly and his family over the years in the Valley to come to the memorial service/celebration of life on March 22 at 5 p.m. at Vail Christian High School in Edwards. There will be a meal served after the service so we ask that if you plan to attend, please R.S.V.P. to
