Vail Daily letter: Thanks for help

On behalf of the Eagle County EMS Prevention Committee, I would like to thank the following agencies and businesses for their participation in the Camp 911 programs in Gypsum on June 17 and Avon on July 29. Through their generosity we were able to provide 176 local youth with an opportunity to learn how to take control in a variety of emergency situations.

Eagle County Paramedic Services, Avon Recreation Center, Western Eagle County Recreation District, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Avon Police Department, Vail Police Department, Eagle Police Department, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Vail Fire and Emergency Services, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Gypsum Fire Protection District, Vail Public Safety and Communications Center, Colorado State Patrol, Eagle County EMS Prevention Committee, St. Anthony’s Flight For Life, Vail Valley Medical Center, Starting Hearts, Colorado Department of Transportation. All these local agencies provided volunteers to host activities act as group leaders and help support all the numerous tasks it takes to turn out these two events.

Eagle County is very fortunate to have such high quality emergency service agencies that can work as a team under difficult and sometimes tragic situations and also as friends and peers in a fun, community event like Camp 911.

Contributions from The Eagle County EMS and Public Safety Council, JB T’s Custom Shirts and Embroidery, Wendy’s (both Edwards and Eagle), Vail Daily, and Tri County Fire Extinguishers in merchandise, food and monetary donations made the camp free of charge for the children of our community.

Our goal to provide a “safety lesson” in a fun, camp style setting would not have been achieved without this type of community support for our youth.
