Vail Daily letter: We did it!
Thank you to everyone who was involved in Pink Vail 2014. This year we had 112 spirited teams and nearly 2,000 pink participants and volunteers from all over the county, state and globe. Together, more than 5,700 donors gave $460,000 for Shaw Regional Cancer Center’s “Spirit of Survival” program, which provides all patients at Shaw with free exercise classes, nutritional counseling, emotion support, healing outdoor activities, a nurse navigator and much more during and after treatment. This unique program helps ease the impacts of cancer — treating the entire person, not just the disease — and often enables people to become stronger than before they had cancer.
In just three short years of Pink Vail, our community and supporters have raised a total of $1 million to help cancer fighters and cancer survivors. As an independent, nonprofit health system, we couldn’t be more grateful for this support and certainly know that every dollar raised directly impacts each patient that walks through the doors.
Pink Vail 2014 was a truly amazing day and so much more than a ski day; it honored the strong men and women in our lives who have fought cancer and remember those who were taken from us too soon. Pink Vail was a magnificent example of our community’s compassion and caring — traits that Shaw Regional Cancer Center and Vail Valley Medical Center strive to deliver each day.
We’d like to extend our deepest appreciation to the participants who joined us, the volunteers who worked tirelessly and the generous donors and sponsors who are impacting the lives of cancer patients treated at Shaw. A special thank you to Vail Mountain, Vail Resorts Echo program, Helly Hansen, town of Vail, the Arrabelle, Chateau D’Esclans, Maui Jim, FirstBank, Diversified Radiology, Vail Valley Surgery Center, Smartwool, Head Skis, Mountain Beverage, AstraZeneca, Centennial Bank, Korbel, The Dusty Boot, GE Johnson, Crazy Mountain Brewery, Takeda Oncology Company, Chambord Vodka, Rad Technology, Mountain Surgical Associates, Slifer Smith & Frampton, Summit Ford, Antlers at Vail, 104.7 The Mile, US Bank and Larkburger.
Thanks to so many, Pink Vail was a truly amazing day.
