Vail Daily letter: ‘Yes’ on Question 1

Voting yes on Question 1 will grant Eagle town trustees the ability to use existing town open space funds for improvements to Eagle open space lands. There will be no increase to taxpayers as the improvements will be made from the existing open space levy. Numerous towns have already adopted this logical approach to open space funds.

The overwhelming responses to Eagle’s 2013 Community Survey were to add more trails and have additional access to open space and trails. We have witnessed the tremendous recent improvements that have been made to Eagle’s open spaces, and voting “yes” on Question 1 will allow the town of Eagle trustees the ability to continue.

The enhancements of open spaces have proven to benefit the community along with boosting the economy. The town of Eagle is taking a methodical approach to open space improvements by working cohesively with the BLM, USFS, land developers plus wildlife agencies. A “yes” vote on Question 1 will enable the town of Eagle trustees to continue improving our public open spaces in a productive manner.
