Letter: Your vote is your voice
We’re leaders of Vail Valley Votes, a nonpartisan nonprofit. This fall we visited eight high school and college campuses in our community to register voters, answer questions about voting and educate our students about the excellent systems Colorado has to ensure that eligible citizens can vote. The students were engaged, respectful and ready to learn about their voting rights, and the schools actively encouraged participation in this important aspect of citizenship. As Nate Peterson wrote in these pages a few weeks ago, having conversations about important topics like voting is good for our community.
We hope you are registered! But if not, it’s not too late. In Colorado, you can register and vote until 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 5. Go to govotecolorado.gov or visit one of four Eagle County Vote Centers (open as of Oct. 21).
And be sure to thank our election workers this season — the amazing people who work in our clerk and recorder’s office, led by Regina O’Brien, and our friends and neighbors who are citizen election judges, working in bipartisan teams. We are so appreciative of their efforts in helping make Colorado a great place to vote.
Your vote is your voice.
