There are three similar words that the Daily almost never uses correctly. Cite: to quote, summon or commend; site: a location; and sight: related to seeing.Gerard ConwayAvonThanks for the helpIt was another good year for the Gypsum Daze 5K Run/Walk: 85 participants completed the new course this year and the 17 volunteers helped to make it a truly enjoyable event. Again this year, the proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk are being donated to the construction of the Gypsum outdoor theater, which made its debut performance this year. Through the support of all who participated and our sponsors, Alpine Bank, Big Steve’s Towing and Columbine Market we were able to raise over $1,800 for the outdoor theater. Thanks for the great support. Thanks also to our contributors who provided prizes and “goodies” for the runners and volunteers: Alpine Ambiance, Alpine Lumber, Beaver Creek Resorts, Buka’s, Cambria Coffee, Carquest, CenturyTel, Cotton Ranch Golf, Eagle BP, Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce, Eagle Valley Enterprise, First American Heritage Title Company, Garden Center of Gypsum, G. Tom EdwardsGypsum Days 5k Run/WalkFine young manWe just heard the sad news about Jody Hern’s passing and wanted to share some of our thoughts regarding this fine young man. We were fortunate to have known and worked with Jody while teachers and coach in the Eagle Valley schools and cannot say enough about his character. He was a class act, both in the classroom and with any of his athletic activities. Not only was he an outstanding athlete, he was also a gracious winner as well as a gracious loser. We are proud to have been able to work with and be involved with him throughout his school years. After graduating, Jody continued to be a role model for his community. His marriage to a wonderful girl, Sondi, produced three beautiful children who will, no doubt, continue his legacy with pride and accomplishment. Our prayers go out to his wife, children and family. We will miss Jody very much and hope the Eagle Valley community realizes what a wonderful person he was. May God speed him to his eternal rest and provide peace and healing to the family and friends he left behind.Ralph and Janice StarrMartin, Tenn.Vail, Colorado
