Vail Daily letter: Asking for your vote
My name is Ryan Geller and I am running for the District A seat on the Eagle County School District’s board. I am extremely excited to be running for this important position in our community and would like to take a moment of your time to tell you about myself and my platform.
My wife and I moved to Eagle Vail in 2006 because we loved the mountain lifestyle and wanted to raise our son here. Nearly 10 years and another child later, we feel more blessed than ever to live in Eagle County. It is a great community in which to live and raise children. For as long as I can remember, I have been actively involved with my children’s education in a variety of ways including volunteering at their schools, attending charity events, participating in and donating to fundraisers, and coaching their athletic teams. During all of these activities, I have met countless terrific parents and kids who live and learn in our community. It is through these interactions that I realized my interest in becoming more involved in my community, specifically with the Eagle County School Board.
I am writing this letter to not only introduce myself to people who do not know me, but also to clarify my intentions in running for this position.
• I’m running for the opportunity to impact our school district in a positive manner that draws on my personal experiences, business acumen and raises the quality of education in our community for all children in all schools in the district.
• I do not have a proverbial “ax to grind” and am the last to cast stones at the efforts of people who have preceded me on the board. I do not believe that anyone takes on a volunteer role of this importance and does anything less than their very best. I do, however, believe that there are stones left unturned and solutions untested that must be explored in order to secure our children’s futures.
• While my children attend Eagle County Charter Academy, one of the things that I love most about our district is the diversity of our schools and what they offer students. I intend to advocate for all Eagle County students and anything that prepares them for success — not individual school formats.
• I look forward to collaborating with a group of intelligent, well-intentioned individuals passionate about creating the best educational environments for all Eagle County children in all Eagle County schools.
Those who know me know that I approach every task with enthusiasm and hard work. I embrace challenges and believe in open dialogue. While I may not have much political experience, I am excited to bring my experience as a small business owner, involved community member, and hands-on parent to the Eagle County School Board.
I ask that when you receive your ballot in the mail you pick me, Ryan Geller, as your choice for the District A seat on the Eagle County School Board.
