Vail Daily letter: Asking for your vote
I am Tessa Kirchner and since 2011, I have had the great honor and stewardship of serving on the Eagle County School Board. I ask for your vote for a second term.
I have a deep belief in public education and its ability to make a great community, nation and society. I have been involved in Eagle County public schools for over a decade and was compellingly drawn to participate on the School Board. Since 2008, I have attended most School Board meetings; for four years as a citizen, and starting in 2011 as an elected board member.
My past 14 years of involvement have been filled with school events, PTA, School Board meetings, running a successful local property management business, and raising children; the youngest is 11 at Homestake Peak School in Eagle-Vail, two sophomores at Battle Mountain High School, and the oldest is 19 at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
I have participated in numerous roles on elementary through high school PTAs, and am a founder and trustee of the Education Foundation of Eagle County (EFEC). I am a current board member of Great Education Colorado, and actively involved with the Colorado Association of School Boards, working on efforts of advocacy for education.
My passions for education, commitment to our community, and hands-on involvement have provided me the opportunity to learn, serve and reflect. My focus is on the classroom experience. The fundamental ingredient is excellent teachers and staff. I am constantly in awe of the intelligent, amazing and passionate people working in Eagle County public schools.
My goal is for every Eagle County Schools student to be educated to succeed in the 21st century. Under the leadership of Dr. Jason Glass, and a School Board that continues to believe in that vision, we can achieve that goal for all of the children in our community. Most importantly, I want to know your wishes, dreams and desires for your children and our community, and have the opportunity to make them a reality.
Thank you for your vote this November. I look forward to hearing from you and working together collaboratively to ensure great outcomes for all of our students.
