Vail Daily letter: Asking for your vote
My name is Mark Christie and I am running for a position on the Vail Town Council.
To give you some background on me, I am originally from New Jersey and worked in the reinsurance industry in both New York and Bermuda for over 20 years and was involved with planning, executing and budgeting on a worldwide basis. I came to Vail in the mid-’90s to try mountain biking and immediately fell in love with the town. From the moment I arrived, I felt very much at home. After numerous trips I decided to purchase a condo in East Vail with the thought that I would use it a few times a year. Vail was a special place for me. Eventually, I found myself coming out here every weekend and finally, in 2004, decided to retire early and move here full time.
I now work in the Vail Welcome Center and deal with both guests and locals on a daily basis. I feel that gives me a good perspective on what’s going on in town as well as the positives and frustrations faced by our guests and citizens.
In addition to working at the Welcome Center I oversee the Community Host program, the “redcoats” out on the street assisting visitors and locals in town. The feedback from these volunteers also gives me further insight into the town.
I see Vail as a unique place and one that offers a lot for both visitors and locals. Vail has given so much to me and I would like to give back to the community. I am one who can analyze a situation and will listen to both sides of an issue with an open mind.
We face a unique election with four seats open and only one incumbent seeking reelection. This is a great time for new blood and eyes to join the council and I would like your support in my quest for a seat on the Vail Town Council.
