Vail Daily letter: Battle for school board

I enthusiastically support Felicia Battle for the Eagle County School Board. Ms. Battle is deeply invested in the success of all students and has demonstrated that commitment as a servant leader in our community. Ms. Battle served for two years as the Wild West Day Treasurer demonstrating thoughtful stewardship of fiscal resources as well as applying her professional skills gained as a former financial director for Marriott Resorts. Her reputation for hard work on the ground within PTO and hands-on support of students and staff within our schools in Eagle is impeccable.

In addition, Ms. Battle’s work as a founding member of EFEC — the Education Foundation of Eagle County — provided stable leadership and collaborative skills in increasing financial resources through diverse revenue streams. These skills are demonstrated regularly within her role as a current Eagle County Schools Board of Education representative.

Effective board work requires a tremendous commitment of time and energy spent sifting through dense board packets with colleagues to move the critical work forward to improve learning and instruction at our schools. It requires a keen mind, thoughtful consideration, and an ability to ask challenging questions at the right time. Felicia Battle has demonstrated this in her time on the board. She is the most highly qualified candidate and an easy choice. Please vote for Felicia Battle for Eagle County School Board.
