Vail Daily letter: Great event
What started out as a crisp, clear fall morning, Saturday, Oct. 24 ended up being a beautiful warm and sunny afternoon and a perfect day for the eighth annual Village Market Pumpkinfest. Over 200 enthusiastic local families gathered on the Riverwalk’s “Backyard” along the Eagle River to enjoy free horseback rides, gourd and face painting, a bouncy castle and a colorful pumpkin patch. I was very impressed with the array of costumes the kids wore, and several parents who also dressed up for the occasion. A huge shout out to Village Market, who as the main sponsor of the event, donated the pumpkins and shared delectable delicacies of gourmet meats and cheeses. As the saying goes, “it takes a village,” but in this case, it takes a Village Market! Pumpkinfest would also not have been possible without the amazing support of Mike Box and his team at KZYR.
I’m particularly proud of our Youth Leader Council members who stepped up during their weekend down time, and volunteered throughout the entire event gaining valuable mentoring experience and displaying dedication to giving back to our community. In addition, Pumpkinfest was also supported by the Vail Daily, Riverwalk at Edwards, Magic Fun Castles, Sugar Bar, Alpine Arts Center and Bear Cat Stables. Eagle River Youth Coalition has been the beneficiary of this fun-filled family event for the past eight years, and is incredibly grateful to the outpouring of support from the community businesses who donate, and to the families who attend. Our mission of “making youth a community priority” motivates us to reach out to you all in many different ways, whether it’s Pumpkinfest, YLC, Eat Chat Parent or the upcoming Healthy Kids Colorado Survey. We’ll be sharing more news of our outreach in the coming weeks, so stay tuned and thank you again for all of your support. If you would like to get involved, please visit eagleyouth.org.
