Vail Daily letter: Kirchner for school board

I strongly endorse Tessa Kirchner for re-election to our Eagle County School District Board of Education. My first interaction with Tessa was in 2002 in a business transaction in which she exhibited intelligence, fairness, strength of character and compassion for those less fortunate in the Eagle Valley. Years later, I reconnected with Tessa at Homestake Peak School, where my daughter teaches third grade. I have observed Tessa in action as a tireless advocate for students, teachers and staff of Homestake Peak School. Tessa has volunteered countless hours in the Eagle County schools since her oldest child, now a sophomore in college, attended Meadow Mountain Elementary School. As a parent and PTA leader at Meadow Mountain Elementary School, she helped lead the school through the transition from two separate schools (Meadow Mountain Elementary and Minturn Middle School) into one pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade school (Homestake Peak School). Tessa’s youngest child is currently a student at Homestake Peak School and Tessa’s energetic dedication to the students of Eagle County is still evident in her tireless “grass roots” work at the school and district levels.

In addition to her willingness to roll up her sleeves and work alongside other parents in the schools, Tessa’s service as a member of the Eagle County School Board is one more example of her enduring efforts to work hard for each and every student in the Eagle County School District, across all grade levels. Importantly, Tessa is committed to supporting Dr. Glass in his ongoing endeavors to move Eagle County schools from good to great. Please join me in supporting Tessa Kirchner in her bid for re-election to the Eagle County School District Board of Education.
